Dillon’s “Why”?
Why is weightlifting the best form of exercise?
The body does 3 things that are important when lifting something: engages your muscles, engages your tendons, and engages your bones! Yes your bones! 🦴
This may be the most interesting and significant part of why I choose weightlifting and teach others that resistance training / weightlifting is the best way to exercise because: by regularly exercising with weights and pushing yourself mentally, your bone mineral density will increase by as much as 3% each year!!!
Strong bones will the #1 reason you live longer because most people that are over 50 years old and have a fall that results in a broken bone, lowers their life expectancy but more importantly, it dramatically lowers their quality of life for their remaining years (often a femur or hip broken).
By strength training or resistance training , honestly just moving the BODY, it strengthens the bones in order to protect you and your organs during a fall.
Taking a typical bruise instead of 16 weeks in a wheel chair and never running again are massively different end results from not that different lifestyles.
A 1 hr workout is only 4% of the day, and this time spent wisely a few times per week, or per month, can add years to your life, by strengthening your bones! Having huge muscles is just a bonus!
